Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Corneal Healing, cornea

Purpose To observe the effect of AD- mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) on corneal healing after alkali injuries. Methods Corneal alkali injuries were created in 20 rabbit eyes. The MSC group (n=10) were treated with subconjunctival injections and control group (n=10) was left without treatment. Rabbits underwent slit-lamp examination, photography, and were evaluated for corneal opacification, and q-PCR for expression of HGF results eyes treated with MSCs showed better recovery. A difference in the degree of corneal opacification and re-epithelialization was also observed, as well as elevated the HGF at 2 and 4 wks. post traumatic were significant difference between MSC and control groups(p<0.05).
