Abstract

The study focused on the college students attitudes towards mathematics subject. It aimed to investigate the student respondents profile in terms of sex, college, learning resources at home and in school, educational attainment of parents and family monthly income; the attitudes towards mathematics of students respondents in terms of effort, interest, confidence, communication, usefulness, general perception and attribution. The findings reveal that students’ have positive attitude towards mathematics. It is interesting to note that despite of the very low financial status of students, the attitude of students towards mathematics is fairly positive. The research also shows that the students attitude towards mathematics have no significant relation to sex, learning resources in school, education of parents and family income but significantly related to year/course/college and learning resources at home
