Abstract

In this paper, an effective Hybrid technique is proposed that improves the performance of the existing Selective Mapping (SLM) method to reduce the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal. The proposed method is segregated in to two steps. In the first step, the time domain chaotic sequences are combined with frequency domain OFDM symbols after performing SLM to obtain lowest PAPR. In the second step, same time domain chaotic sequence issued for every OFDM symbol without performing the SLM which results in increase in the number of IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) operations can be prevented. As a result of the simulation, it was confirmed that the proposed SLM-chaotic hybrid technique can significantly improve the PAPR reduction performance compared to the existing SLM method.
