Abstract

This study's goal is to assess the efficiency of teaching EFL beginners English through reading aloud. The study used the reading aloud approach to test the learner's capacity to acquire and comprehend the English language, with a particular emphasis on reading comprehension. Reading is a vital ability for EFL learners since they must master both the vocabulary and the techniques of learning English as a second language. When it comes to EFL learners, the researchers recognise the importance of learning English via the use of the reading aloud technique, and they compare the outcomes and happiness of these students to those who utilise the self-directed learning strategy. The study acknowledges that Indian students should prepare themselves for the difficulties that lie ahead by studying for them and becoming familiar with the subject matter. In order to become proficient in all of their language skills, learners must first comprehend and appreciate the relevance of language in their lives. The use of English in the classroom enables students to put their newly acquired information into action and to demonstrate their understanding. An investigation into English teaching techniques was organised by the researcher, who carried out the investigation by conducting a pre-and post-test, as well as by introducing self-directed and reading aloud techniques to the newly admitted engineering graduates of a private technical university in one of the Indian states.
