Abstract

Of all the professions, teaching is considered the best, by the most. Professionalism is a powerful quality that helps to impress and inspire others, giving a deep sense of satisfaction and self-worth. This paper aims at studying professional behaviour of secondary school teachers, selecting a sample of 829 secondary school teachers from Tiruvannamalai, Viluppuram and Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu, using simple random sampling technique. The study reveals that professional behaviour of majority of the secondary school teachers was average. No significant difference was found in their professional behaviour base on gender and educational qualification. But those teachers who attended in-service training programmes, who do not check of social media before going to bed, who use social media without affecting their relationship with others showed better professional behaviour than their counterparts.
