A study on Work Stress and Work Load which influence the Quality of Work Life of Advocate in selected District in Kerala

Abstract

Now-a-days many lawyers are experiencing burnouts, insomnia, low productivity and stress related illness due to lack of balance in personal and professional lives. A psychosocial interplay between personality, power, status and service and intellectual challenge forms the career dilemma of lawyer’s conflicts. Advocates work stress and work load influencing the quality of work life. The following are the objectives of the present study, (i) to present the socio economic profile of the sample respondents, (ii) to find the variables of work stress and work load which influence the quality of work life of advocates in the study area, (iv) to analysis the work stress and work load which influence the quality of work life of advocates and (v) to offer suggestions to the professionals to manage their work stress and work load.  Researcher had issued 240 questionnaires in the study area and collected back 232 questionnaires. All the 232 questionnaires were taken for analysis and results presented here. Percentage analysis used to present the socio economic profile of the study and correlation used to find the relationship between the factors which influence the work stress and work load of the sample respondents.   The researcher concluded that stress need to work, need to reach the target and face the challenges in work life. But it should exceed certain limit. Advocates need stress to do well in their profession, more work load increase the stress.  Advocates should plan their work load to reduce their stress in the profession.
