Indira Goswami known by her penname Mamoni Raisom Goswami was an Indian editor, poet, professor, scholar, writer, novelist and short Story writer. Mamoni Raisom Goswami is a realistic writer. The nakedness of the social realities can be perceived from her stories. Since ages women have always been shamed, deprived and tortured. The atrocities inflicted upon women ignited the revolutionary mindset of Goswami and she gave those strong feelings and emotions a literary voice through her stories; she composed stories that depicted the issues faced by the adolescent girls, married women, widows, the weak and the old in an uncompromising patriarchal setting. It will not be possible to discuss all her short stories in this short essay. The discussion here will focus only on three stories name ‘Ishwariya Xangsai aru prem’, ‘Xei andhaar puhororu adhik’ and ‘Bhul thikona’.
